Apple and Banana Salad

My neighbour made this for one of our gatherings.

Apple and Banana Salad

Cuisine: Kenyan Asian Serves: 6 Cooking Time: 10 minutes


  • 1 medium sized crisp lettuce thinly sliced
  • 8 oz celery thinly sliced
  • 2 red/green apples cut into 2 inch pieces with skin
  • half cup raisins
  • half cup raw peanuts or walnuts (optional)
  • 2 ripe bananas sliced
  • for dressing
  • 4 tbs plain yoghurt
  • 4 tbs mayonnaise
  • 2 tbs honey
  • salt and pepper to taste



Place lettuce, celery, apples, raisins, nuts and sliced bananas in a deep bowl and mix well.


Mix the dressing ingredients in a separate bowl and add to the above ingredients.


Mix well with a wooden spoon, cool in the refrigerator 3hours.


Serve as a side salad with any starters or as ‘filler’ with a main dish or a rice dish.
